Rockstar dropped some extended look footage for GTA 6 and the internet immediately did what the internet does best: stream the absolute shit out of every song in the trailer like their lives depended on it.

Spotify just released the numbers and they are unhinged.

Captain & Tennille’s “But I Think It’s A Dream” — a deep cut most people under 40 had never even heard of — jumped 130,730% in streams. Playlist adds went up 885,400%. That is not a typo. That is a full-blown cultural possession. One minute it’s a forgotten soft-rock track, the next it’s getting force-fed to an entire generation of kids who think Vice City is a real place.

This is the classic GTA Effect in full force. Rockstar picks a weird mix of 80s pop, Dominican dembow, early 2000s Southern rap, and random deep cuts that somehow feel perfect for neon-soaked Leonida nights, and suddenly catalog music from three different decades is eating the charts alive. Forgotten tracks get a second life. Gen Z kids discover Prefab Sprout. Middle-aged heads get flashbacks to when Birdman still mattered. Everybody wins except the artists who somehow didn’t get their song in the trailer.

The genre mix is pure Rockstar chaos: yacht-rock daydreams next to dembow club bangers next to trap anthems. It shouldn’t work. It always does.
